Spring Break – Reno
It’s that time of year, when you’re given one week to do (almost) anything you want and it’s socially acceptable… crush some beers while doing absolutely nothing, travel insane distances to a third-world country to get a deep tan, or you can visit a destination listed on Bing’s 10 Dream Spring Break Spots in the world. You guessed it, Reno Tahoe. Follow in the footsteps of these Spring Breakers as they drove 10 hours from SoCal to Reno (Discovering Nevada along the way), and gather tips on how to make a Reno Tahoe Spring Break, unforgettable…

Ready….. GO! Any road trip is a little anticlimactic… but look at that enthusiasm radiating from those cows!
Nevada is not a small state; you’ll need some potty breaks. And what’s a road trip without an absurd amount of unnecessary snacks? Support the locals, and stop at one of the local fresh jerky shops!
The folk in Beaty, NV sell some divine “made in the desert” jam. Could go great on your college student budget go-to lunch… the PB& J.
Alas, the real reason for pulling over. Beef Sticks. So don’t leave empty handed. “Gus’s Really Good Fresh Beef Sticks” were picked up by these ladies, Gus screams “Really Good,” literally.
Warning, peeling off the skin may not be the best idea to spark an appetite. Just leave it be. Trust us.
More often than not, you’ll find yourself in the middle of miles and miles of… well, nothing. But that makes the drive that much more fun. Cleans yourself of your crazy busy life, and put the pedal to the metal… until you reach the speed limit, of course.
After long miles in the car, the itch happens to everyone, so don’t deny it. Satisfy the hankering and make some ruckus in all that vast, peaceful space. After all, it’s Spring Break, baby! Get out of the car, play, jump, scream, do whatever you please. You’re in the middle of a desert, you are the only thing for miles, there is no judging. Plus it’s good to stretch those legs.
Nestled between the vast spaces across good ol’ NV, there are many hidden gems that don’t get the attention they deserve – like driving on the shores of Walker Lake outside Hawthorne.
Or, the towering Sierra Nevada Mountains in Carson Valley. Stunning!
No shame in taking a quick power nap, you’ll need it.
But make sure the driver wakes you up for this moment… Ahhh. Finally!
While in town…
Grab some grub at a favorite burger spot, the Awful Awful, for an awfully big, and awfully good tasting burger.
Do some laps. There are 18 ski resorts within 90 minutes of downtown Reno. If you don’t have a resort in mind, pull a name out of a hat. In this draw, you can’t pick a bad one.
All-you-can-eat sushi is a must-do in Reno. Come hungry.
It’s spring break… PARTY!
Just 45 minutes from Reno, dig your toes into the sandy shores of Tahoe. For the ultimate hangover cure: go for a quick dip.
Lastly, don’t forget to snap your pic under the iconic Reno Arch! Renoites know the arch pic is an imperative part of every trip, so most will stop and wait for you, but nonetheless, please watch for oncoming traffic!
Around here, there is something for everyone. Everyone can live their personal passions, whatever they may be.
